Postcard from Christchurch

We had another beautiful Autumn's day with lots of sun and no wind. This afternoon I took a walk around the city to catch up on what's happening since my last walk there. I didn't get home to very late which has made me well behind in putting up my blip.

The shot Top Left: is of our Re:Start container mall. The new building in the background going up, is the Justice and Emergency Services Precinct. It sure is growing upwards now!

The shot Top Middle and Top Right: is of our old Police Station that is going to be bought down by implosion next Sunday afternoon.

The shot Bottom Left and the small ones next to it: were taken in High Street. You can't really see them too well in the shots of the new fern wall that has just been put there, it looks like little white packets! The seagulls were enjoying all the water that was running out from the bottom of the planters. I thought the tram looked colourful with the pushchairs in the front of it. The yellow building is the BreakFree on Cashel that has just opened. The building had a lot of earthquake repair work done on it and it is good to see it open.

The shot Bottom Right: is of the new City Promenade which is underway along the Avon River. It looked colourful and there were wonderful reflections.

The Extra Shots: First is the temporary walkway for the Bus Interchange which is dew to open on Monday. The next shot is the building of the new Bus Interchange. The last shot is of the Ballet dancer.. I manly took that shot to show the building in the Square, which is on the right hand side, at the back. I mentioned the other day, that I wasn't sure if it was coming down or being repaired. The roof is off now and the building is being gutted out. Other one will hit the dust!

A colourful day in the city. The bad weather is on its way so many not get into the city for a while. We have been so lucky with the weather.
