Metal bashing

We went to Promaude, the local country fair, today. Unfortunately the weather wasn't really up to scratch -- cool and windy -- so there weren't many people about, and nothing much was going on. The liveliest area was the metal-bashing section where a local ironworker gathers a dozen helpers to create a work of art during the three days of the show amid half a dozen mobile furnaces and anvils. Much fire, smoke, and clanging of hammers. I have no idea what they are making, but it involves a lot of differently shaped bits.

The dog agility ring was empty apart from a confused looking herd of sheep, and the ring for ponies was occupied by some barely competent riders wobbling about in half-hearted fancy dress. We'd been invited to an apero for the launch of the summer tourism brochure, but it was so chilly we didn't stay long -- a quick glass of rosé and a chicken wing or two, and then home.

More in the extras, including Rouge, my blip assistant's choice (overruled this time).
