The forgotten stile

Poking around in a hedge to find a geocache on todays walk revealed this long forgotten stile with a plaque commorating the Downstream Ramblers. Internet research reveals they are a walking group that started in 1932 to encourage folks in South East London and North West Kent to explore the countryside on foot . They are still going, with walks most Sundays but not going over this stile. By the time  we had found the geocache, the vegetation had been well and truly hacked back. If the Downstream Ramblers go this way again soon they will see their old stile and perhaps wonder if the ghost of a past member has been trying to get over it, not wanting to use the modern gate just along the hedge.
