Lyrical

A moment before, the stage was occupied by two consummate performers, Courtney Pine and Zoe Rahman, doing their much lauded set on "Song". This is probably the third or fourth time we've heard Courtney Pine, and every time it is quite different. This time much more lyrical. On other times, it's been about sheer power. Ditto Zoe Rahman, whom we first saw at the Islay Jazz Festival. A slight woman, but a powerful pianist.

Sadly not in Edinburgh, but in the Carnegie Hall in Dunfermline, which is a wonderful venue, but hardly just around the corner. Easy enough to get home in the late evening, after a splendid evening with D and I, but a bit of a pig to get to, through the early evening traffic.

So, for once, not quite "just your ordinary Tuesday"...
