Ivinghoe Beacon

Met up early with friends/blippers for a blipmeet. Started the day at the Brownlow Cafe on the Ashridge Estate with a hot chocolate and cookie breakfast before driving over to Ivinghoe Beacon.

My blip was taken from the top of Ivinghoe Beacon with its far reaching views over the Chiltern Hills with the Whipsnade White Lion and Dunstable Downs in the distance.  The White Lion was built in 1933 from a design by Mr R B Brooke-Greaves to indicate the location of Whipsnade Wildlife Park. It was carved into the chalk uplands of Dunstable Downs and measures 483 feet long.

Lunch was at the cafe in Ivinghoe followed by a trip to Pitstone Windmill. After everyone left for their journeys home, Matthew and I stopped off at Dockey Wood to capture the last of the bluebells.  Just before we were leaving the sun made an appearance (it had been fairly overcast all day with a couple of brief light showers), so we decided to make the most of the sun and headed back up Ivinghoe Beacon.  Certainly had my exercise for the day!

Ended the day with dinner at The Greyhound Inn in the beautiful village of Albury.

A really enjoyable, fun day with the fabulous company of:
Matthew (matthewlynes)
Tony (Tony61902)
Trevor (TKevs)

and Matthew (MPJG)
