Muttley's Musings

Latrigg

(Back Blip)

We decided to head over to Dodd Wood to visit the Osprey Observatory and hopefully see some Red Squirrels. We saw the Osprey sat on the nest through the spotting scopes, and Mum saw the male flying above Bassenthwaite Lake. There was one Red Squirrel at the feeding station, but it was soon scared off by some out of control West Highland Terriers which had run off from their owners.

After walking around in the woods, and then down to St Bega's church, we headed up to Latrigg Fell after lunch for some fresh air and magnificent vista's. On the drive over from Dodd Wood (in the rain) it didn't look too promising, and I was on the verge of suggesting not to bother today, but boy, was I glad that we decided to carry on and walk to the summit.
