#HealthyEatingWeek at #WardenParkPrimary#TastyTeam

A nutritious diet is the foundation of good health yet in developed countries we are consuming more calories, sugar and fat than ever, and not enough fruit and vegetables.

This week is Healthy Eating Week and throughout the UK over 7,000 schools will be planning and running exciting activities based on creative cooking, food origins and eating and drinking well. These are all activities that IMPACT’s Tasty Team works on at schools and with families in our local community in Sussex all year round so we’re glad to have so many others joining with us this week!

We popped up to visit a Get Cooking session for parents and children at Warden Park Primary Academy this afternoon– run by our two fantastic volunteers Joyce and Lorna.  It was full of food-based fun with home-made burgers, apple and pear crumbles and a bright and colourful salad.

All our courses, run by local volunteers, are designed to develop skills in the kitchen and give parents and children alike the confidence and opportunity to try out new ingredients and recipes.

Chloe Alderson, mother of Taylor Alderson (pictured here investigating a spring onion) said

“IMPACT’s Get Cooking course has been great for Taylor as it has enabled him to try out different foods which he wouldn’t normally try at home.”
