Capturing my Journey

Nowata Chances Mist

Or as I like to call her Jo! She is my American Quarter Horse and a lovely girl. Quarter Horses are so called as they are the fasted horses over a quarter of a mile. They were race horses in America and some individuals have been clocked at speeds up to 55 mph (88.5km/h)! Ours are a little more sedate! Their small frame and and quick turn of speed along with their agility and intelligence made them popular for ranch work. To me they are the border collie of the horse world. They love nothing more than to get in behind the cattle and move them. They haven't had much chance to do that here. We bought them with all intentions of using them for gathering etc but haven't found the time and energy to actually spend time training them to help with this.
