Capturing my Journey

Freedom..

Today we finally had sunshine all day so it was the day to "mark" the lambs at the farm where we manage the livestock. It all went quite smoothly apart from me having to dash home for more of the tick pour on as we hadn't brought enough, a good sign that there were plenty of lambs. We are really pleased with the lambing there this year. It is 3years since we took over the management of the stock and it has taken this time to improve the health of the ewes and their ability to have and raise lambs. It is a great sign of our hard work paying off. It looks like we will have plenty of female lambs to keep to increase the flock on the farm which is great. The lambs are looking well too so all in all very happy. I was too busy and forgot to take a photo while we were in the fank so a beach dog photo again will have to suffice!

The dogs worked hard this morning to bring in the ewes and lambs, quite often you can end up with a lot of lambs at the back of the flock and the dogs have to work hard weaving back and forth to keep them with the flock or you can have a lamb break where they all rush back on you thinking their mothers are behind you. Not a very good thing to happen but thankfully we avoided this today thanks to the dogs! After we had finished we took them for a run on the beach. This time last year after the marking we went swimming in the sea with the dogs as it was so warm. Not happening this year I bet the sea was freezing and the wind was cold too.

12c 7mph SE sunshine with small clouds.
