Weekend preparations ?

With Met Office warnings already this week of flooding in some parts, high winds and rain in others, small wonder I’m confused.
Despite the need for a sweater today while out and about,  it seemed that everywhere I went I couldn’t escape that by the end of the week we would be enjoying BBQ conditions amid prediction of a heatwave on the horizon.
So forgive me for being cynical; I’ll believe the likelihood of barbecue weather when it actually arrives. And no doubt will enjoy it.
I remember one place where we lived that barbecues were the order of the day most weekends during the summer, and even then weather was unlikely to stop us. Then later, it was when we bought ourselves a gas fuelled BBQ, that our perception for barbecues changed. We could control the heat, no waiting for charcoal embers to be just right, and somehow we were no longer served burnt chicken pieces or blackened sausages.
Not sure that the food tasted quite the same; despite its often overcooked appearance, the  smoky flavour unique to charcoal cooking had captured our imagination. And you either liked it or hated it!
This weekend? This supermarket hasn’t wasted any time in encouraging us to be ready for warmer temperatures. Even one small individual food store  had a sign outside pointing to its BBQ offerings.

We’ll see what the weekend holds, but for the moment I am not going to stock up in anticipation!
