each book on this shelf is titled kritische berichte.  i have no idea what that means.  i like that.

when i started this project on monday, i imagined the library holding wonderful graphic images to photograph.  color blocks of reference books, fine detailing on older editions, worn patterns of use, and so on. for once, i wanted to search the stacks for images, not titles.  it has not been as easy as i imagined.  a working library is not an art gallery.  there is a mundane beauty in rows and rows of stacks, shelves and shelves of books.  i don't yet understand it's essence, let along know how to capture it.  so here i am tonight, putting up an image of one shelf of books.  i'm sensing a serious dead end here, but i'm not quite ready to give up.
