Making Hay

A public holiday today in Bavaria (not all of Germany) as it's Corpus Christi. Having been raised as a Catholic myself, I seem to remember the feast being quite important back at school age. Certainly here being very Catholic, many of the houses in the village are decorated with flags to mark it.

Also at this time in the town where Angie comes from, Olching near Munich it's also the time of the traditional 10-day "Town Festival" which we often go to. Angie had arranged to meet up with family and friends and set off in the morning after an early morning ride. I stayed at home, nursing my first tick for two years that attacked during the night and I stupidly didn't take my time this morning removing it properly or better still getting Angie to do it as she is great at it, It was still tiny and I simply managed to tear off the body and the head remained in. Oh well here's hoping it's not an infected one and the head falls off by itself. If my Blips get even more bizarre you know why.

It was hot hot hot - over 30°C and no wind. The pool got up to 27°C by evening. Angie home in the afternoon and organised the hay with Franz. He couldn't do anything in the morning as like many he was taking part in a Feast Day procession. The Blip was taken at 9:30 pm as the two heaved the last bale on to a pallet

There needs to be a lot of work done to protect the bales from roof sweating, moisture from the flooded cellar below, cats, chickens, martens, hedgehogs and even dying foxes (which we have had). The first time we have had hay in the stables so will wait and see. Where we will store straw has yet to be answered.

Hay looks good and smells wonderful so thank you, Franz and Marcus, for the work and naturally a great job done by Angie.
