A Goldfinch's Breakfast

The Arboretum gardens were morning quiet. I heard him before I saw him. The goldfinch sat on a planter behind a wooden chair crying for his breakfast, in the way that the young ones do. But then, he took matters into his own . . . er . . . beak, and flitted over to some purple flowers, where he ate with great gusto.

Those who are interested may learn more about the American goldfinch at the Cornell ornithology Web site.

The soundtrack is a song by Pink Floyd called Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast. It is a three-part instrumental tune which features the sounds of a man actually making and eating his breakfast!
