Kinky koru

I'm having to rest up due to a bad foot, so it's been nice to have summer arrive so that I can sit out in the garden.  Unfortunately it also means less choice for blips!  So today this is a close up section of a wooden sculpture in my garden of a koru produced by an artist using a chainsaw. According to Wiki, a koru (maori for 'loop') is a spiral shape based on the that of an unfurling fern frond and symbolising new life, growth, strength and peace.  It is an integral symbol in Maori art, carving and tattoos.  It certainly makes an unusual piece to add to the garden.
