Making huge steps on the house

One day's work and a few donations to the ongoing kid swear jar and the house's upper level is no longer only accessible by our rickety pole, nail & junkwood ladder. The local wood Mistry couldn't quite get his head around our designs - local stairway culture dictates a platform partway up and a dogleg. Strange then, that may local houses are reached via a simple 'zig zag' cut pole leant against the upper storey. Mac & Inga are guests (our 1st) on route from Nepal to Leh on their ratty Enfield. (Looks nice, but bits keep falling off). Luckily Mac was as good a bodger as we - and he, Rich and I sweated the new flight out of fantasy and into reality. Lovely jubbly.. a coat of mustard oil and a counterweight rigged to the trapdoor (via our homespun pulley block) and the upper floor is mostly there.
Busy, satisfying day.
btw - the slivers of light above aren't daylight - just the tin layer beneath the slate roof.
