Ring

A very long walk for the boy child and me today - I reckon we must have done at least 10km (or about six miles, for those who prefer their distances in old money).

Cunningly, I gave him the old dog, so that he'd be left dragging her up the hills on the way home. In typical fashion, she selectively forgot that she's old and bounced the whole way around our course. 

The photo is from the centre of the local Giant's Ring, a large earthwork monument about 200m across (or about 220 yards, for those... etc, etc) and nearly 5,000 years old. There's a 'tomb' in the middle, consisting of a handful of large stones - you'll have to wait for another day for a photo of that.

It was our first time to venture as far as the ring, though we've passed signs for it often. I was all prepared to be disappointed by it, but it was actually quite impressive. Nice when that happens...
