Ramblings and Mutterings

The Bleeping Toughest Guitar in the World

I’ve been looking forward to this gig for a while now, the Manic Street Preachers at Cardiff Castle.

The gig was to celebrate the release of their landmark album ‘The Holy Bible’ which was over twenty years ago.  It was also the last album they did with their original line up, before their troubled guitarist Richie Edwards disappeared and is now presumed dead.  For those of you who’ve never heard it, it’s quite a dark album as discussed by bassist Nicky Wire during the gig.

I have to admit the Manics are a group that were never originally on my radar, especially at the time of ‘The Holy Bible’ but I’ve since gone back and appreciated their earlier work.  I guess your taste does mature over time.

It was an epic gig!

And the blip was inspired by James Dean Bradfield who at the end of the gig decided to smash his guitar to pieces, proper rock n roll like.  Unfortunately either James hasn’t got the strength of his youth anymore or as in his words “this is the bleeping toughest guitar in the world.”

Luckily I had this to look forward to, because all day I was either suffering from a motivation crash or this wiped out feeling that seems to be haunting me at this time.
