The style of house that has been built here for thousands of years. The earthquake proof structure consists of huge beams of Deodar on the old houses, butterfly stitched together with rock infill. The deodar is naturally weather proof (thus explaining the lack of preservative or creosote to buy anywhere local), able to withstand the rigours of the climate extremes here. We found out that all the carved trellis-work around the main balcony (the normal sitting space throughout the day for the family) is Walnut - 400 years back - days where wood rationing was yet unthought of.
Sunbeams optional.
