Ambassadors and The Big Lunch

I was extremely privileged to be invited to Bishopbriggs Academy today to present Saltire Awards to the amazing young volunteer ambassadors and champions.

What a fantastic group - they have volunteered with a wide range of local community groups, clocking up thousands of hours between them.

They held the event as part of The Big Lunch, with over 250 members of the local community, family and friends gathering in the school for a lovely lunch, some great chat and to the cheer on the young people getting their Awards.

This picture is of the awesome young volunteer Stephanie, who was my inspiring guide for the day, along with the Scottish Minister for Children and Young People, Fiona McLeod, who also happens to be the local MSP.

I do love days like today - seeing first hand the care, compassion and passion that young people bring to improving their communities.
