Opening of Train Story

Although it has been open to the public for 1 year, today was the official opening of the new Steam Railway museum and engine and carriage storage facility known as Train Story.
The huge project was partly funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund whose representatives gathered with the great and good from the Isle of Wight Steam Railway to cut the ribbons to formally open the site.
A highlight of the day was when the flagship engine Calbourne entered the building to join the festivities.
Following the opening the representatives took a train ride in the Victorian carriages to inspect the stations at each end of the line which have also been renovated to a high standard.

The visitors who also included a representative from the National Railway Museum in York were fulsome in their praise of the high standard of the railway as a visitor attraction and the dedication of all the staff and volunteers
