Common Enchantments

Little Red Wagon

In northwest Colorado, there are lots of sheep!  We see these little wagon/campers set up at various fields and even up high in the mountains later in the fall as the shepherds move the flock around to eat.  Usually, there is a dog, Border Collie, Blue Heeler or Great Pyrenees to help guard the sheep and one or two horses.  Everything the shepherd uses is contained in the sheep wagon and having seen inside one..it is tiny tiny and the only light is the open door and a little tiny window.  We met a shepherd one year when we were hiking those mountains way in the distance, his name was Victor and he was from Peru.  He spoke little English so we had one word conversations as we stopped to rest at his camp.  He stayed out on the mountain with the sheep for weeks at a time; supplies (food and water)  were brought to him on a schedule.

I guess they don't get to call out for pizza!

I suppose they get paid more here than in Peru or wherever they may be from. I also imagine that they have to love the life of taking care of sheep.

A couple of lambs in the extras.  they are so cute and fluffy!
