Fred & Andy

The large mosque that dominates the skyline

Andy's still not feeling great this morning but the sun is shining so we head to the pool to do nothing for a few hours. Fred heads out to an internet cafe to do blip, courtesy of a lift from Ricky at the hotel. It's a gaming place really and is very noisy so she's pleased to leave a few hours later when Andy and Ricky come to pick her up although has at least caught up a little. We are about to go into town to explore a little when the heavens open so go back to the hot for  bit instead. This huge mosque dominates the skyline in the town. They've been building it for eight years apparently and its still not finished - no one is sure when it will finally open.

We telephone Doy whose details we have been given for a possible overnight trip to see proboscis monkeys on the river near his village. He shows up and seems like a really nice guy but has no experience as a guide, no idea what to charge or what we might want but we cobble together a vague plan for an overnighter and say we'll call him tomorrow. It's really cheap but we're not sure quite what we might be getting ourselves into ... We'll sleep on it!

The rain gradually lessens and we don our faithful rainmacs and head out. Andy needs some new long trousers since his were ripped in the jungle and he's chucked them. We don't find anything but the girls in one shop are screaming and giggling so much as they try to help us we decide to leave it for tonight. They're so helpful but get very overexcited - it's like being a celebrity!

Dinner then back to the hotel for superman 2.
