Cor Ned Biff

German pronunciation of Englisch was a bit of a recurring theme today.

For example, did you know that most Germans will ask for a Gintonic when they want a gin-and-tonic.  And you can tell them until you are blue in the face that they're missing the "and".  They will look at you as if you are some sort of simple creature who needs constantly looking after and wonder who on earth would ever order a Gintonicand*?

The title of today's Blip is another such example.  It is the Hessen way of asking for Corned Beef**

Never Settle is the motto of the company that made my new mobile phone (which Germans call a Handy).  It also pretty much describes my day.

A long day at work. A few lightbulb moments and then 2 and half hours of German practise.

And I'll leave it to your imaginations how the average pronunciation of "Worcester Sauce" goes.

*that is meant to be a joke.
** And did you know that the "corns" in corned beef were originally salt crystals?  And further to that did you  know that Fray Bentos is the name of a city in Uruguay?  And that the eponymous company closed their factory there in 1979?
