Birthday cake?

The poppies in the garden have started to flower.  

However, rather than feature the gorgeous paper like quality of the petals, I was drawn to the strongly structured seed head of our first poppy this year.  

It was Dad's 84th birthday yesterday and this one looks for all the world like a birthday cake to me :-)
