An Avid Lensman

Watching You...

Out stalking the dark backstreets of a less posh part of Salisbury, at middle of the night o'clock...

Never been in this junk shop. The few occasions that I've seen it open, it is pure tat, like broken garden forks. But the outside IS interesting, with stacks of Haynes motor manuals covering every vehicle preceding 1990, that you can see in right hand window.

Decided to go out with (very) old full-frame and just 35mm f1.4 and 135mm f2 Nikkor lenses, both the fastest in their class. Not much (nothing much at all, actually), so took one shot of this street corner.

Next frame, a fluffy and rather wonderful and regal white cat literally came out of nowhere and then went on to sit and watch me. Was he telling me something? Was he watching over me?

To highlight just how dark this street was, it's iso 6400, f2 and handheld at just 1/40. For a 1.8kg camera/lens combination, without any stabilisation and manual focus, it ain't turned out too bad (recommended shutter speed would be at least 1/125.

And yes, before you all moan - the shop doorway IS crooked. I was about to straighten it in Photoshop, but then everything else went beserk...

Huge thanks for the everything on yesterday's moonlight and cathedral, with river.
