Deoksugung Palace: East Meets West

Deoksugung Palace, one of Seoul's "5 Grand Palaces".

An interesting mix of contrasting architectural styles and materials here, including the stone built neoclassical Seokjojeon Hall, completed in 1910. 

Post Palace trip to Shingesae Department Store (Main Building from 1930)  where I found a Waitrose stand in the Food Market offering a very choice selection of Waitrose essentials - baked beans, pitted green olives etc, Duchy Original mineral water etc etc... Still no Cadbury's Dairy Milk though. 

Outside Shingesae I passed the BBC's Seoul Correspondent, doing a piece to camera in front of the Bank of Korea building. MERS and money, probably.
