Mother's Pride...

What a week it has been!
The boys have been at music camp all week and they seem to have had a ball.
It's not all cello playing - Calum got involved in the choir, lots of football and rugby was played, old friendships renewed and new ones made, (judging by the flurry of social media "friends") and Lewis even managed a trip to hospital for an eye injury.
The stick that hit his eye apparently initiated a story that grew arms and legs and by the time he returned, the stick had been imbedded in his eye, blood was everywhere...you can guess how it went!
He is fine.
He has a scratch below his eye and his cornea is intact.
A brief return to school for the sports finals may have elicited a medal (to be confirmed) but both felt they had held their own against older opposition.
Little Miss Niamh also had a successful sports day beating her arch rival in the sprint for a 1st place and grabbed 2nd place in the other.
Tonight was the long awaited concert in the cathedral which was a massive hit and made up for the disappointment of missing the Piano Guys in concert in Edinburgh (next time!).
Every group of youngsters played amazingly well, the atmosphere was fantastic and it made parting with hundreds of pounds every year so worth while.
A young violin soloist played with the string orchestra in a performance that had everyone open-mouthed at the standard and quality of music.
Although Calum had come home from camp with a sore throat and feeling ill, he rested his voice, swallowed every honey/lemon/paracetamol concoction I could generate, and stood up in the cathedral to sing the solo introduction of one of the pieces...in Zulu!
Seeing how the boys have moved from the back row of the cello section to the "first desk" (I have no idea exactly what that means except they are obviously better players these days!) makes me very content and very very proud.
And, do you know what, I really don't care who knows it!! :-)
