Flag Day

Traditionally the fishermans town of Scheveningen celebrates 'Flagday'. It represents the opening of the new herring season and the auction of a barrel of the very fist catch to benefit a do good foundation.

This should have been last wednesday, but due to the fact that the weather has been too cold the herring isn't 'fat' enough, so the real opening of the season is prosponed to coming thursday.
In other words, you'll have to wait a few more days on that report I had planned for today.

But seeking an alternative for today I saw this tram dating from1920 that did active service till 1963 and is now stalled in a museum, but taken out of its hibernation for this flag day to resume it's original route to Scheveningen.

I just had to take this opportunity to capture it at a very recognisable Scheveningen boulevard location.

To be continued in a few days....
