Have I found my faith at last?

As regular readers of this Journal will know Knottman is not a man of great religious persuasion. In that he is little different from most of his friends.

But here in the Dordogne there is a faith which appeals to him. The religion here is of course the worship of food and drink. In Sarlat services are held every Saturday and Wednesday in the town square. The faithful come from a wide area, even from Cumbria, to hear the preachers, who have stalls for pulpits and proclaim the quality of their wares.

In this religion Heaven is promised here on earth and almost instantly. Life may be shortened but its quality is delicious.

The rich soils and sunshine ensure that the fruit and drink of the Earth are in good supply.
