Below the Clouds

As I write, rain is hammering down on the roof of the conservatory. The sun appeared for about one minute today, but otherwise the sky has been various shades of grey. We went to the supermarket this morning to stock up for our stay and then walked over to RSPB North Warren. We had not been there very long before the rain started and it has been raining on and off since then. Despite this, we managed some wonderful birding including Marsh Harriers, Hobbies, Cuckoo (seen as well as heard) and Green Woodpecker. We also saw a Harris Hawk - presumably an escape, and were deafened by a Cetti's Warbler at very close quarters. The forecast is better for tomorrow. A little bit of sunshine would be very welcome.
The photo was taken before the rain started - a Marsh Harrier over the Fen, with a little bit of the House in the Clouds visible in the background. The signal here is somewhat limited so apologies for even worse than usual commenting.
