Black Head Gull

A dull, overcast day, slightly warmer.

We went over to Monikie Country Park for a picnic. It seemed as if a whole colony of Black Head Gulls had flown in. They over winter further south and then spend their summer here in these more northern climes. They are smaller than seagulls, with black heads and deep red bills, although in summer their heads are more like brown.

I don't often manage to photograph flying birds but this was my attempt today. For a closer look at one on the ground see the extra photo or here.
