Goodbye Corsica

We have now returned to where we started in Calvi where we are waiting in line for the overnight car ferry.

It's been a mixed day.  We had hoped for a day on the beach for our last day but it started raining as we left our campsite.  It was proper 'English' sort of rain and we were clearly not going to enjoy the beach.  We therefore headed into the mountains to see a famous church at Murato.

After about a 45 minute drive we arrived but there was no sign of the church as we had gone to the wrong Murato,  the correct one being 2 hours in the wrong direction!

Shortly after that we got stuck for about 30 minutes behind a coach that couldn't get through between some parked cars.  There were some very heated French 'discussions' going on around us but eventually it was sorted with the road backed up in both directions.

We got to Calvi after lunch and paid a quick visit to a high Chapelle that overlooked Calvi bay.  The sun came out and we then adjourned to the beach for a swim and 2 hours in the sun.

My picture shows the view of one of the many villages clinging to the mountainside on our journey in the rain this morning.

My extra picture shows the lovely beach at Calvi this afternoon in the sunshine
