Juvenile Pied Wagtail

This young pied wagtail (Motacilla alba) was in a willow waiting for flies to be brought by a parent.

I was back at the loch today to check on the grebes but I am sad to report than something bad happened on Sunday. Nobody knows what happened but both remaining eggs are gone, both chicks are gone and the male hasn't been seen for two days. The lone female is still hanging around the area but can't start over without a partner. Everyone is depressed.
