Red squirrel

This morning we went to Loch of the Lowes where we saw fallow deer, red squirrel, and osprey, the latter through some enviable glass trained on a nest away across the loch.
Also saw woodpeckers, yellowhammers, a tree-creeper, and all the usual tits and finches.
Then we set off for the Highlands. The weather closed in as we went higher,  rain and low cloud obscuring any views.
We checked into our B&B in Aviemore then wandered about the town. I was assured that there were impressive mountains all around us but there was nothing at all to be seen !
We lunched and shopped and sampled the bars. It was the chance for a good talk and a start in resolving some of the issues that seem to be our family legacy.
This evening we went to hear some live music downstairs in the bar of the inn we were staying in, - two girls, a guitar and great voices. We both enjoyed it immensely, including the antics of a gang of young fellas who good naturedly joined in all the songs. One of them in a summer dress and a toy policeman's helmet. Of course ...

Extra pics - Osprey. A shot of the screen where there was a live feed from the nest.
First glimpse of high ground - and snow patches ! - through the mist.
