Le Pique Nique

If you're going to do something, you might as well do it properly. So, for a proper picnic I do not recommend:

- Waking after a mere three and a half hours sleep on the sofa (snoring Mr B) having slept through an iphone alarm going off for half an hour.

- Not checking the exact route to the chosen picnic destination, resulting in some extra driving on twisty roads in the back of a hot car with a slightly unhappy tummy...

However I do firmly recommend:

- Choosing an idyllic hilltop picnic site with fine views all round;
- Remembering a tablecloth and napkins;
- Adding to the basket a freshly baked quiche;
- Washing it all down with some delicious champagne provided by our lovely guests.

It was a classy end to a lovely time with our friends. Once our kids were whisked back to school, the rest of us came back here for packing and farewelling.

And then sleep. Guests are brill, but it's all a bit tiring!
