Journey to the Centre of the Earth

If you enter the  Natural History Museum in London via the Exhibition Road entrance, you are faced with this escalator which rises through the centre of a "flaming" sphere, taking you to the part of the museum with exhibitions about the origin of the earth, volcanoes and earthquakes.  However, we were there to visit the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.

Normally we visit this annual exhibition in January of February, but were unable to organise that this year.  Fortunately, the exhibition this year continues into August, to celebrate 50 years of this competition, so we didn't miss it after all.

As usual the images were amazing.  You can see them here, but viewing on a computer screen doesn't compare with visiting the exhibition and seeing the large backlit displays on the museum walls.
