Music

I felt obliged to post this because it's La Fête de la Musique today. But we didn't really have a musical day. It was de Ferme en Ferme in the Val de Dagne, a day when local farmers open up their farms for visits. We set off fairly late and got to Château Villemagne in time for (early) lunch.  It was already very hot, and I didn't envy the poor people grilling duck and frying chips in the sun. We did manage to find a shady spot to eat our duck and chips, followed by sheep's milk ice cream, but it wasn't easy. After that we went off to Caunettes en Val, where the shade was somewhat better organised, and I came across these musicians. We also met a producer of organic pork, bought goat's cheese, ate some organic sorbet, and tried some spiruline. But it was just too hot and airless to be pleasant. Wilting, we went home, dropped off our purchases, and went down to the garden armed with books and plenty of water. Here I promptly fell asleep for two hours.

And then, erm, as it was the longest day of the year we wandered out to the square with a bottle of wine and a few nibbles at about 7 p.m. One bottle of wine turned into two, then three, and we were still there catching up on village gossip with the neighbours as dusk started to fall at 10:30 or so ... Well, that's what Sundays are for!
