Grasses

After I'd been out on my bike this morning for a short ride, I took out little dog with the intention of photographing the long grasses in the fields. 

I wasn't expecting to find anything in the long grasses!

I'd met a fellow dog walker who told me he'd seen a deer pop its head out of the grass only 10 minutes ago so I took a closer look.  At first, all I spotted was a dark thistle type weed but when I looked again, it had been weeded!  

So I took a longer, closer look.

My weed was in fact this lovely deer.  I do love special encounters.  I think it's a roe deer given it was on its own but I'm not entirely sure.
