Watching

In the past five years I have gotten pretty comfortable with often being the center of attention. There are plenty of times, especially this time of year, when I am the only non-Mexican for miles around so I have gotten used to looks and stares. In truth I'm not certain if this guy waiting on the pier this morning was giving me the eye because I was white or because I was riding a bicycle (borrowed from a friend as mine is still out of commission) in the blistering heat. Either, or both, could be case for scrutiny. For once I'm pretty sure it wasn't because of my camera because I was toting around my old, small Panasonic rather than one of my DSLR's. Kind of liberating to be able to shoot on the fly, without a lot of rigamarole.
