Wanderings & Witterings

Arran

An away-day to Troon with Cumbernauld & Kilsyth Ramblers today, and a very good day out it was too.

We travelled down on a hired bus and then had a relatively short (4 - 5 miles at most) walk along the beach, across the golf course and then along part of the so-called Smugglers' Trail before returning into town around 1pm.

We then went our separate ways for a while - I joined some of the others for an excellent 'fish tea' and then went on a walk northwards along the esplanade, round the headland and back into the town centre past the fish-market and sawmill.

Just enough time for a leisurely ice-cream (sadly I was driving once we returned to Cumbernauld, otherwise a pint would have been very welcome) before we boarded the bus to return us to Cumbernauld.

The sun shone. It was pleasantly warm and there were good, if somewhat hazy, views over to Arran in one direction and Ailsa Craig in the other. A good day out.
