Getting the sparkle back

The Langhe hills

This was the first walk of our week's holiday in Piedmont in north west Italy. We walked from the hotel just outside the village of Montelupo Albese, exploring the village at the beginning and end of the walk. There were  many murals of stories about wolves on the walls of the village buildings (Montelupo means "hill of the wolf"). These murals were modern and the stories depicted were mostly traditional, not relating to Montelupo in particular. I've included my favourite - the wolf with blue fur - and also a wolf weather vane as extra photos.

After the main walk, I went to see the local cemetery with another couple of walkers. There were some very grand, modern family tombs, quite unlike anything you would see in the UK. Thunderstorms had been forecast for the afternoon and we got back just in time, otherwise we would have been soaked!
