Mountain Fog...

Today we set off to drive to Alexandria, VA.  As we drove South on Interstate 81, we encounterd thick fog, it lasted for nearly 30 miles, caused very slow progress and added time onto our journey.   We missed looking over the vast areas of forest canopy too.  Then on 695, Baltimore Beltway, and 495, Washington, DC Beltway, two of the usually busiest traffic areas we were to drive on, we had thunderstorms like you wouldn't believe - sheet and forked lightening, thunder and absolutely torrential rain.  It  was a relief, in a way, when the storm ceased for a short time and we just had the busy traffic to contend with, knowing we were nearing the end of our journey  - what turned out to be a 9 1/2 hours drive - as in my extra photo...
