Today is a new day...

Fish for tea

We headed to Bergen today. Of course, being Norway, we expected tunnels but today we experienced tunnels with roundabouts and tunnels within tunnels going off in all directions.

The scenery was impressive, sort of Glencoe meets Switzerland!

We arrived at a lakeside campsite in Lone, had a quick bite to eat and headed into Bergen by bus and train. The transport was seamless!

We wandered along Bryggen with the higgeldy piggeldy coloured wooden buildings and as the weather had turned decidedly Scottish, we opted not to go up the funicular as the mountains were completely shrouded in mist.

Instead we headed to the Fish Market where we saw the biggest crabs ever, swimming around in tanks, possibly unaware of their impending destiny. Each stall had a vast array of fresh fish and cooked it to order. We had a scrumptious meal sitting under a canopy (beside a heater!) before heading back to the campsite.

The sun even made an appearance in the evening!

Things to remember from today:-

Yarn bombed trees, lots of them
Efficient transport that makes taking public transport fun
Hazelnut chocolate
Swathes of little violets by the roadside
Roundabouts in tunnels lit up in blue lights
Huge crabs
