Ramsgate Marina

Birthday number 61 today. Celebrated in similar style to birthday number 60, although in Kent and not Amsterdam. Last year we cycled the polders of Holland, this year we cycled, yet again, the Viking Way from Reculver via Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Pegwell Bay, Minster and St Nicholas at Wade and back to Reculver, some 31 miles. This must have been at least the 10th time we've done this route, stopping off at well liked places for refereshments of various kinds, buns, coffee, chips, prawns, tea, beer and crisps.

The weather was largely kind, warm and sunny but with an annoying headwind that always appeared to be in our faces - we started east, it was blowing into us, we turned south - still blowing into us, then west and yes, still blowing, only into the last few miles or so did we have a following wind even then it was not all the time - the final couple of miles it was on our port quarter even though we were travelling in the opposite direction from the morning. How can that be?

The evening was followed up by a good meal out with Susan and Doreen with present and card opening when we got back from the pub. A most enjoyable day
