Jeune talent

Today was the official launch of the village summer season. Budget constraints meant it was more low-key than usual, but we can still afford a banda and a buffet. Everyone was most impressed with this young band member -- when he held his trombone vertically it was as tall as he was. I don't know how he had enough puff to play it, but he definitely wasn't pretending, and he had a great sense of rhythm too. He brought smiles to every face. Another one in the extras as I couldn't decide which one to blip.

Another blazingly hot day; in the evening I went to a book group meeting, in a vine-shaded garden bower with chilled rosé and nibbles. A great way to start the summer.
