Heartwood Forest, Sandridge

Today we had our second blipmeet at Heartwood Forest in Sandridge to photograph the wildflower meadows. What a glorious day it was - hot and sunny with just a slight breeze. However, although the breeze was very welcome, it wasn't conducive to taking macro shots of the flowers and insects!

We took a different path this time which led us up and round the back of Hillend Farm where we found this meadow of Kidney Vetch flowers - a gorgeous carpet of yellow over the landscape (with just a few Ox-eye daisies  thrown in for good measure!).

We continued up,  looping round Hillend Farm and coming back via the path we took the last time in front of the farm, finally returning to Sandridge village.  We must have walked at least four miles. Hot and tired, we certainly earned our pub lunch and pint of shandy in The Green Man! Or was it the pint of shandy that made me tired!! ;-)

Many thanks to friends and fellow blippers for a really enjoyable, fun day:

A few extras of bugs (including a pair of mating red beetles!) and wildflower meadows pics.
