Contemplation

We had plenty of time for contemplation too, as we sat in heavy traffic all the way round the lake, having failed to take into account that the coming weekend is the first of the school holidays. Luckily, it seems most people were heading up the coast, rather than for the cold hills, as we had a clear run after the turn-off.

We took a different route, in the hopes of finding a special present for a friend who's celebrating her birthday tomorrow. However, after the hold up at the start of the journey and another on the hill, where a huge beer lorry had overturned, we found the shop closed when we got there (it specializes in hand-crafted pewter and glass). Luckily there's also a splendid place for ceramics and we found something nice there - the gift box and wrapping, always thrown in for free here, were almost as beautiful as the contents! The extra photo is of the trees on the skyline, which caught my eye as we left the shop.

By this time we were feeling hungry and decided to eat then and there, before heading over the next hill to home. A fondue went down very well on a decidedly chilly evening.
