Wearing a muzzle

Beat is a sheepdog - no doubt about it. He loves staring at things that move and he will nip if whatever he is staring at, does not move the way he wants it to move...

Unfortunately Beat has decided that Biscuit is his own private little sheep that he can move around as it suits him. Biscuit is very very patient, but Beat can be very rough with him.

Look at this!
And at this!

Stalking Biscuit would be ok'ish, but he has recently increased the nipping and it is not fair to Biscuit. He is too little to stand up to Beat, so today I tried to put a muzzle on Beat when they were running and it seemed to work ok. Biscuit was more relaxed when he wasn't nipped all of the time and Beat seemed to understand that he could not get hold of the sheltie fur, so he actually gave Biscuit a bit more space.

You can see on the left top picture, that Biscuit does get cross with Beat, when Beat is too much in his face. They both need to learn that Beat does not nip anymore. Biscuit still expects the worst.

I will test it for a couple of days and if it continues to work well for both of them, it could be the solution.

Beat's muzzle looks big, but it is really very nice. It is made of soft leather and he can drink with it and I can give him treats through the holes in it too.

Happy Sunday!
