Today is a new day...

We made It!

We made it to the Arctic Circle!
We left the site just beyond Trondheim and headed North up the Arctic Highway. It was a pretty long drive but the forecast was looking good for the day and night. We followed the railway north criss croosing over and under it for miles.

The scenery was surprisingly Scottish looking and more gentle than I had imagined. It was also much more populated than I had thought it would be so far north. We had bought up a store of chocolate to keep us going and it did the trick!

We arrived at a campsite in the evening and organised our pitch and then headed up to the Polar Circle Centre where we took a few pictures and congratulated ourselves on getting there! There was quite a lot of snow, bright sunshine and a very chilly 2 degrees.

We eventually returned to our site and marvelled at the sunshine. Semi-Q and I went out after midnight for a walk in the bright daylight and were amazed by it all.

Things to remember about today:-

Chocolate is great to lift your spirits
Achieving a goal is a great feeling
Walking in broad daylight in the middle of the night is bonkers
