The Way I See Things

St James the Great

This is the parish church of Long Marston in Warwickshire.

If you take "architecture" to mean the art and science of building design then I think I'm probably pushing my luck by submitting it to Wide Angle Wednesday this week - I rather doubt that much formal design was involved when it was built by local craftsmen in the C14th. Luckily however, the host can award herself as much latitude as she likes!

And of course, the word is used as a general term for buildings - and this is a building I've always loved. Even in this area, where half-timbered buildings are ten a penny, that wooden belfry is extremely unusual; and the church also has a notable war memorial in the form of a lych-gate, which I'll blip on another occasion.

There's a little more information about the village of Long Marston here.
